| Due to the current economic situation, James Berry & Associates advises many investors who have bought off plan properties, on their disputes with developers. For some, a negotiated settlement with their developer is appropriate. For those who choose to proceed with litigation, and where their purchase contract stipulates that disputes can be referred to arbitration, we can represent them at the Dubai International Arbitration Centre. We still act for a number of clients who wish to purchase completed freehold properties. We guide them through the purchase procedure, until they are issued with a title deed, which establishes their legal ownership of the relevant property. During the property boom, many purchasers were happy to proceed with their purchase of real estate without instructing a legal consultant. In the current environment, purchasers are more discerning and can see the value of taking proper legal advice. They would also prefer that their deposit is held by a law firm which has practised and built up a reputation in Dubai going back more than 20 years.
